Teaching and learning at Hedgewood is highly personalised to your child's needs. The broad and balanced Hedgewood curriculum is taught daily in conjunction with the personalised  targets set out in your child’s Personal Learning Plan (PLP). The PLP targets are derived from the outcomes set in your child's Education Health and Care Plan and our own assessments based around the needs of your child to ensure development of crucial learning behaviours and functional life skills.
We believe that both personalised planning from our curriculum alongside daily teaching of PLP targets will  enhance the bespoke educational experience for your child, allowing them to thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment. We encourage you to actively engage with your child's PLP and collaborate with their teacher for the best possible outcomes.
Pupil progress across the school is measured for each pupil from their individual starting point in core subjects and reported in English, Maths and Science. There is also a targeted focus on developing communication, personal independence and social communication and interaction skills in line with many of our pupils’ challenges associated with their diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum condition.
All pupils at Hedgewood School are working below age-related expectations across all areas of the curriculum in line with their complex profiles and additional learning needs.
