We believe music is a universal language that enables all pupils to express themselves, communicate, and connect with others. ,Our music curriculum is designed to be fully inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and highly engaging for pupils with a range of complex needs.
We aim to foster a lifelong enjoyment of music by creating opportunities for every child to explore sound, develop their musical understanding, and experience success in a supportive and joyful environment.
Through carefully planned and adapted teaching
Our pupils will learn to recognise and respond to core musical elements such as rhythm, pitch, and tempo, and to use their voices, bodies, instruments or technology to participate in and create music.
We focus on four key skills throughout our music curriculum: listening and understanding, creating, controlling and responding, and reviewing. These skills are developed progressively through accessible, engaging activities tailored to each pupil’s needs and strengths.
We aim for all pupils to:
Our music curriculum ensures that every pupil, regardless of their starting point, has access to high-quality musical learning that is meaningful, motivating, and tailored to their individual needs. By embedding music across the curriculum and school life, we support pupils to make connections, communicate, and flourish through sound.
We are very proud to be awarded the music mark of recognition for dedication and improvement in music education.
